Lakme Fashion Week’s (LWF) GenNext collection Showcased the new generation of talented designers. LFW fresh designers were, Farah Sanjana, Mohammed Javed Khan, Nikhil Thampi, Shashank Raj, Prajwal Badwe, Siddharth Arya, Theresa James, Roger Prince, Thinles Chosdup, Nirajana Adhya, & Urmi Ghosh. Some of these designers are full of vision & innovative, But few others lacked to see the “bigger picture” meaning fashion isn’t just about silhouette it’s to bring Silhouettes alive on the runways head to toe there has to be a message, reason, cause, etc… to give it life… simply their garments were “lifeless” and lacked the “oomph” factor.. Majority-wise it was an amazing show my three favorite designers are Siddharth Arya, Urmi Ghosh, Theresa James &Roger Prince (duo label:
Retarded velvet)

Their GenNext unisex collection had a 'street' sensibility, inspired by the fusion of global culture, they were influenced by the minimizing of boundaries, both individual and territorial, pop culture and the iconoclastic 1980s. The pair favors explosive color with an emphasis on smart design and fluid proportions, merging Native American and Navajo motifs, Ikat patterns, South Indian cotton, Mexican serape, and Ghanaian batik. Her design philosophy aimed at accomplishing a harmonious confluence between naturalism and avant- gardism. Her Gennext collection, 'Maar and Moumoune' is a tribute to Dora Maar, Pablo Picasso's muse. The fragmented artistry of Cubism has been incorporated in the form of shapes and structures achieved by collaging different fabrics together. Surrealistic illustrations by Japanese artist, Naomi Kobayashi have been improvised into embroidery artworks, manipulating space thematically.
